I'll be working in the machine shop during the next few days with the goal  of improving the usability of the equipment. This will involve cleaning and leveling the machines. Adding keys to the bottom of each of the milling vices, tramming the heads and repairing the power feed on the table of the larger mill. I'll sort and organize the tooling in the tool cabinets. We will need to purchase a few items such as drills, taps and end mills, deburring tools and a few other things. I can donate a few items to the cause. After the machine shop is in good order I plan to offer an intro class sometime in February. If there are any suggestions or questions please speak up.          adame@colostate.edu       970-402-8034

    Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob, I've heard that the Board got a class on the mills. Any idea when the members will see training? Thanks, Dan S

There are a couple of safety issues that need to be taken care of before the mill is ready for classes. We've given Bob the go-ahead to do this work and hopefully won't take long.

The repairs on the Samson Mill have been completed and we've purchased a good starter set of end mills and accessories for the mill. In a few days I will be leaving for a 3 week vacation so we can do something soon after I get back. May 4 and 5 looks like the only free weekend I'll have until after May, 19. If anyone has a machining project that we could do as part of a class, please let me know. I find it most effective to teach this craft when we are solving an actual problem and making a useful thing. After you've attended this first class I'd be willing to meet with each of you individually to coach you until you have gained the skills and confidence to complete your pieces. I'm thinking that the class size should be limited to 4 persons and the length of the class, 4 hours. Depending on the level of interest, we could do 2 classes per day or maybe a Saturday class and then a Sunday class. I'll post the cost of the class soon.
