Prusa Update (showing signs of life)

I was able to get the hot end out of the print head.  As you can see in the photos, the heater block is destroyed and wrapped in burnt plastic.  The wires are broken for the thermister and heater.   The broken heater wires are most likely the cause of the blown fuse as they may have shorted.

I picked up a new fuse (5A automotive fuse) yesterday and powered the beast up after making sure the heater wires were not touching.  The LCD display came up and showed realistic values for the bed temperature.  I'm assuming the fuse did its job and the controller board is OK so I ordered a new hot end.  This should arrive Monday so I'll see if I can put it back together again.

I may need to print out one piece that was bonded to the failed print and broke a little section off but it is just at the print cooling fan outlet so maybe it will not be needed.

I hope to have it back at the hub next week if all goes as planned.

I got it all back together and messed with the z-offset that Steve told me about. Things seem to be working well so I’ll bring it back tonight or tomorrow.
