Usually I cut 1/4" MDF at 8mm/s 60% power and focus height at 3mm above the material (in the past, 4mm or 5mm has worked OK too). Last night, I found those settings weren't quite cutting all the way through. I bumped power up to 80% and it was fine. Does this simply indicate the lens/mirror/... needs cleaning?
Doubtful, since it was cleaned and aligned on Sunday. We may be looking at a fading laser tube.
It was so consistent before, it seems like a coincidence that there was maintenance and then a noticeable change. Are we sure some simple error wasn't made e.g. lens is upside down or ...?
I will make sure Josh (our shop boss) checks.
