  Local Linux Users Group meeting; space for the meeting generously provided by FCCH. We are meeting in the craft room behind the big blue door, not in the main meeting/LASER/3D-printer room.

  Each month, a different speaker talks on topics related to Linux, Open-Source Software, etc. When we have no pre-arranged speaker, we do a round-table discussion of short topics/presentations; bring a show-and-tell!

  This event is free for anyone to attend; there's no need to be an NCLUG or FCCH member. However, donations to cover the Creator Hub's rent and utilities would be greatly appreciated.

  On all/most other Tuesdays, many of us meet for "hacking society" around 6:30PM, currently at Dutch Bros coffee on Taft & Elizabeth (although location may vary; check on IRC first perhaps!)

  No need to register; feel free to simply show up.

• Overview of Blacksmithing and Demo

  A demonstration of the craft of blacksmithing. Students will have a brief lecture on safety, skill being demonstrated, be shown a demo of a project, and then be able to complete a small project which they will take home. All materials are provided. Basic safety gear is required (eye protection, gloves, long pants and closed toed shoes).  Cost: $110, 6 students max. Class registrants must be 18-years or older.

  Learn woodturning basics as you use a wood lathe to turn a custom wooden pen body for a pen hardware kit. Each attendee will make and take home with their own custom wooden pen. Class fee includes pen hardware kit and wood blank for the pen body.

  Safety glasses will be provided if you don't bring your own. No loose clothing should be worn, long sleeves need to be rolled up, long hair needs to be tied back. No open-toed shoes can be worn during classes.

• Epoxy Pour Charcuterie Boards

  Register

  Students will receive instruction on making their own 10 x 18 inch charcuterie board from the high quality epoxy and hardwood provided. 

  The class will take place in 2 two-hour sessions over consecutive weekends. The first will cover the selection of wood, preparing the mold, mixing and coloring of the epoxy and the pour. The second class will start in the classroom with removal of the mold and then move to the finishing of the board using the woodshop equipment.  The class will finish with an overview of sealing the wood and epoxy surfaces. 

  Session 1: June 15th 2024, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM 

  Session 2: June 22, 2024, To accommodate the woodshop equipment we will split this class into two groups. You will attend one of the following sessions: 9:00AM-11:00AM OR 1:00 PM-3:00 PM 

  The class is now open to both members and non-members! Members must be signed in to the website to access the discounted registration fee.

  Students should wear clothes that can get dirty or stained by the epoxy and finishing process.

  We are pleased to offer our hugely popular summer camps once again. We’ve come up with many new and exciting projects that are creative, fun, and educational. Students will learn skills involving woodworking, electronics, musical instruments, laser cutting, and rocketry! Students will take all of their creations home.
  

  Students will learn new skills and explore creative ideas through fun, hands-on projects. The projects will include:

  • Model rocketry, including designing & building custom rockets.
  • Build a cigar box guitar.
  • Learn woodworking skills and use our LASER cutter.
